In their daily work, there are many things which challenge a Member of Parliament.
National List MP based in West Coast-Tasman Maureen Pugh has just signed up to the 21-day Easy Vegan Challenge after an approach from Vegan Society spokesperson, Claire Insley of Karamea.
“I’m always up for new ideas and a good challenge” the MP says whilst sorting her smokey paprika cheddar, dairy-free coconut yoghurt and organic vegan sausages delivered to her office by Vegetarian Delights Fry’s Family brand. “However, being a beef & sheep farmer I’m not sure I can be converted but have committed to one day a week for three weeks” she commented.
Claire Insley says that the Vegan Society is pleased that Maureen is keen to give the challenge a go. “There are all sorts of rumours and pre-conceived ideas about a vegan diet which are misleading, so we are delighted to have her signed up to this challenge with the daily support email with breakfast and lunch ideas and dinner recipes, along with tips on where vegan products are available.”
So, being just one day in to the new diet regime, how is the MP going? “So far, so good” Maureen Pugh says.
