MP Warns to be Alert for Scammers

MP Maureen Pugh is warning people to be wary of any form of scamming during the Coronavirus Lockdown.

After being contacted by a potential scam herself recently she is describing the people behind them as ‘despicable’.

‘Despite virtually everyone being home during the lockdown period, there are definitely no door-to-door appeals at present and telephone canvassing is most unlikely right now’ she says.

‘I advise everyone not to open emails from these people to avoid the risk of computers being hacked for bank account details or other personal information’ Mrs Pugh says.

‘It’s terrible that these scammers are attempting to take advantage of people at a time when the whole community is feeling vulnerable’ she says and encourages everyone to report any suspicious approaches to Police.
